Sam joined Interfaith Action’s Department of Indian Work staff in September 2018. A native of Minneapolis, he graduated from Middlebury College in Vermont in May 2018 with a joint degree in sociology and environmental studies. He has worked in restaurants in Minnesota and New York and at a native plant nursery and horse ranch.

In his position, he is working on curriculum, lesson plans and volunteer recruitment with DIW’s American Indian Youth Enrichment program in East St. Paul, where he looks forward to developing strong connections with Native communities, and especially students. In the future, Sam hopes to work in schools as either an educator or a social worker.

In his spare time, he can be found watching baking shows with his partner, chasing his hyperactive cat around his apartment, or hiding in the back of a bookstore.
