Momentum Builds for Economic Mobility Hub for American Indians

More than 50 nonprofit leaders, policymakers, and elected officials tuned into a special presentation on September 20 about plans to create an Economic Mobility Hub for American Indians in Greater Saint Paul.

The Hub is an initiative of Interfaith Action’s Department of Indian Work, the American Indian Family Center, and the Montessori American Indian Child Care Center.

“This is a community-wide effort to create economic opportunity and systems change for the benefit American Indians in the East Metro,” said Nicole MartinRogers, an Interfaith Action board member who also is helping organize the initiative with DIW Director Kelly Miler.

The goal of the Hub is to provide culturally responsive resources and services that are proven to build and maintain family financial stability and intergenerational wealth through support in three key areas: 1) Health, work, and income supports; 2) Career training and education; 3) Financial management and intergenerational wealth building.
