Department of Indian Work Expands Footprint to Serve More People

Interfaith Action is moving forward with a plan to nearly double the Department of Indian Work’s footprint in its new location at 3080 Centerville Road in Little Canada. Now, in addition to the 5,853 square feet for offices, food shelf, conference room, and storage, DIW will have 4,977 square feet of warehouse space, conveniently located directly behind DIW.

DIW director Kelly Miller says the additional space will allow DIW to better respond to the demand for home deliveries, which has increased 220% since the food shelf moved to Little Canada. Three new freezers and much better access for loading and unloading food are now available. In addition, DIW will be able to reopen its clothing closet, host cultural gatherings, welcome back volunteers safely, join a new Second Harvest partnership focused on serving seniors, and provide drive-through Covid testing.

“This expansion helps us serve more individuals, families, and elders with a robust delivery system not only in Ramsey County but also Hennepin, Dakota, and Washington counties,” says Miller.”
