New York City Adventure: Beyond Housing
Who: Sara Liegl, Project Home Director
What: 2014 Beyond Housing Conference, presented by the Institute for Children, Poverty, & Homelessness (ICPH)
When: January 15-17
Where: New York City
Why…
Two years ago I had the opportunity to attend this conference and came away with an incredible amount of new ideas. The ICPH Beyond Housing conference in 2012 sparked our shelters nutritional transformation called Healthy Hospitality. It is an intentional effort to fuel our families with balanced snacks and basic, healthy breakfast options that include whole grains, lean proteins, fresh fruits and vegatables. I am thrilled once again to have the chance to attend Beyond Housing and learn about strategies from around the United States and Canada. Additionally, I have the exciting opportunity to present a workshop with my co-presenters Margaret Lovejoy and Susanne Lovejoy from The Family Place. This Friday we will be sharing with others from around the country about a new Training+Shelter program we are developing here in Saint Paul.
Stay tuned. My goal is to post a little bit each day of the conference!
